Bike ride to Griffith Observatory

Updated: Nov 28, 2019

A short and sweet ride with Ajinkya Jayawant.

Griffith Observatory

It is a public observatory that hosts some large telescopes. If visiting during evening or night time, you can get to see some planets, moon and stars. It also offers stunning views of the LA landscape, #DTLA skyline and the #Hollywood sign. The adjoining #Griffith park has several trails for hiking enthusiasts as well.

Why you should bike to Griffith?

  • Its a short ride from USC, perfect for those times when you can't afford hours to go to #LongBeach or #RedondoBeach

  • The final climb on Mt. Hollywood is decently long, steep and challenging

  • You get to ride downhill while coming back

  • Famous 24x7 donut place for a pitstop

USC to Griffith Park

The route is fairly straightforward - catch Vermont Avenue and ride north till you hit Griffith. However, we took Hoover St. near USC as it has bike lanes, and switched to Vermont later when it gets slightly less crowded (shown in #Strava pic below)
